Hamilton, 87, of 409 W. Main St, Du Quoin, died Saturday, Sept. 13, 1980, at Fair Acres Nursing Home in Du Quoin. She had been in failing health for several years. He was born in Johnson County on Dec 8, 1892, to James and Helen McDaniel Howerton, She married Robert Earl Hamilton in Pinckneyville on May 4, 1915.

He preceded her in death in 1976. She was a resident of Du Quoin 77 years. She was a member of Paradise Baptist Church. Survivors include two daughters, Betty Ernst of Du Quoin and Helen Hamilton of Chicago; a son, Raymond Hamilton of O'Fallon; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, two sisters and four brothers.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Neal Memorial Chapel in Du Burial will be in Paradise Baptist Cemetery. Friends may call after 6 p.m. today. Special Events ROYAL Rhythm Dancers, 8 p.m.

Missouri man jailed A Missouri man was charged with aggravated bettery and resisting arrest early today in Chester for allegedly fighting with Randolph County sheriff deputies. Sheriff Ardell "Snap" Currat said Rickie D. Bickings, 23, was held in the county jail in Chester today pending an appearance in court on charges of fighting with Randolph County deputies and the sheriff, during a routine inquiry. Michael Luther Prince, 24, of Sum-mersville, was held in the county jail in Chester today under charges of reckless driving and fleeing to elude police.

Currant said Prince was arrested Saturday by Sparta police. Richard A. Diercks, 21, of Sparta, was held in the county jail today under charges of attempted burglary, criminal damage to property, and illegal possession of cannabis. Diercks was arrested Sunday by Sparta police. Currant said two Chester area men were charged with battery connected to fights reported by Chester City Police Saturday night.

The two were identified as Dean M. Renner, 28, and EAjl G. Bowen, 18. Both were released under bonds pending appearances in court. A fee of $5.50 will be col lected at the door.

Joseph Memorial Hospital in Murphysboro after an extended illness. She was born on Sept 19, 1916, In Murphysboro to Oliver and Ada Martin Kimmel. She married Lovell E. Rees in Per-ryville, on July 2, 1939. He preceded her in death on July 16, 1976.

She was a lifetime resident of Murphysboro. Mrs. Rees was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Murphysboro, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary in Murphysboro, Electa and Ruth Chapter 379 of the Order of Eastern Star, Murphysboro; and a Albert Lee Begemann Albert Lee Begemann, 97, of Lakeland, died Saturday, Sept 13, 1980, at Lakeland General Hospital in Florida after an illness of six days. He was a retired Gulf, Mobile Ohio Railroad worker. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Railway Trainmen, Gothic Masonic Lodge 852 of Belleville, and member of the Steeleville United Methodist Church-Mr.

Begemann was born Sept 24, 1882, at Steeleville to Frederick and Sarah J. Begemann. He was married to Ada Elizabeth Witbracht on May 10, 1905, at Steeleville. She preceded him in death in 1936. In 1937 he married Olga Bruegge-mann.

Survivors include his wife, Olga, of Lakeland, Fla; a son, Frederick Begemann of Belleville; a daughter, Bernice Schrand of Belleville; a stepson, Frederick Joost of Lakeland, eight grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Wilson Funeral Home in Steeleville. Burial will be in the Steeleville City Cemetery. Friends may call after 4 p.m.

Wednesday till time of the service on Thursday. William B. Rogers William B. Rogers, 77, of 403 N. Douglas St, West Frankfort, died at 12:10 p.m.

Sunday, Sept 14, 1980, at Union Hospital in West Frankfort. Mr. Rogers was a retired coal miner from the Peabody 40 mine in Har-co. He was a member of United Mine Workers of America Local 8317 and the St Johns Catholic Church in West Frankfort. He was born Jan.

22, 1903, in Mul-keytown, to Herbert and Ida Davis Rogers. He was married Jan. 22, 1925, in Coello, to Linda Macari. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Margaret Bateson and Linda Buschon, both of Taylorville, and Wilda Tresso of West Frankfort; 10 grandchildren and three greatgrandchildren; and one brother, Berry Rogers of Taylorville. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Johns Catholic Church. Burial will be in St Johns Catholic Cemetery in West Frankfort Friends may call after 7 p.m. today at Parker-Reedy Funeral Home in West Frankfort, where a rosary will be recited at 9:30 am.

Tuesday. Memorials may be made to the St Johns Catholic Church library fund or the building fund. Ralph T. Ratajczyk Ralph T. Ratajczyk, 49, of Route 1, Sesser, died Sunday, Sept 13, 1980, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount Vernon.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the St Mary's Catholic Church in Sesser. Burial will be in St Barbara's Cemetery in Schel-ler, where graveside military rites will be observed. Friends may call after 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Brayfield Funeral Home in Sesser.

Chrystol Underwood Funeral services were held Saturday at the Staah Funeral Home in Springfield for Chrystol Underwood, 18, of Springfield, formerly of Herrin, who died at 3 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 11, 1980, at the Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, after a brief illness. Burial was in the Zion Cemetery in Pawnee. Miss Underwood lived in Springfield for the past 10 years.

She was a 1980 graduate of Southeast High School in Springfield and a member of the Pasfield Baptist Church in Springfield. She was born July 29, 1962, in Her-rin, to Larry and Erma Hooker Underwood. Survivors include her father of Springfield; her mother and stepfather, Erma and Stanley White of Springfield; a brother, Keith of Springfield; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John Hooker of Royalton; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Right-to-Learn volunteers sought Myrtle Lee Koehn Mrytle Lee Koehn, 59, of Murphysboro, died Saturday, Sept 13, 1980, at St. Joseph Memorial Hospital in Murphysboro, after an extended illness. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Murphysboro where she had been a member of the Christian education committee, the pulpit committee, the finance committee and the music committee. She was also a member of the church choir. Mrs.

Koehn was also a member of the St Joseph Hospital-Auxiliary and the Murphysboro Day Home Extension Group. She was a past president of the Southern Illinois Women's Golf Association. She was born Aug. 20, 1921, in Sims, to Tot V. and Vernette Cannon Tunnel.

She was married June 14, 1946, in Cobden, to Harold Koehn, who survives. She also is survived by two daughters, Candace Watt of Murphysboro and Sandra K. Flynt of Jonesboro, Ark; and two grandchildren. Funeral services were at 3 p.m. today at the First Baptist Church in Murphysboro.

Burial was at the Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Murphysboro. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church in Murphysboro or to the American Cancer Society. The Pettett Funeral Home in Murphysboro was in charge of arrangements. Clarence Filkins Clarence Filkins, 76, of 616 W. 8th St, West Frankfort died at 8:30 p.m.

Sunday, Sept 14, 1980, at the American Beauty Nursing Home in West Frankfort Mr. Filkins was a former coal miner who last worked at Old Ben 8. He was also employed as a trucker in West Frankfort until his retirement He was a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in West Frankfort He was bora Jan. 16, 1904, in Frontenac, to George and Carrie Kaiser Filkins. Survivors include his wife, the former Gladys McKemie; one son, Elmer Filkins of West Frankfort; one daughter, Lucille Swear of West Frankfort; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; one brother, Joe Filkins of West Frankfort; and two sisters, Mary Davidson of Decatur, and Carrie McKemie of West Frankfort Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m.

Tuesday at the Seventh-Day Adventist Church. Burial will be in Denning Cemetery in West Frankfort Friends may call after 6 p.m. today at the Union Funeral Home in West Frankfort Fred O'Neill Fred O'Neill, 70, of St Louis, died at Christian Northeast Hospital in St Louis. He was married to the former Irene Vastine. Arrangements are pending at Pettett Funeral Home in Murphysboro.

Elmer Sims Sr. Elmer Sims 86, of 716 Crockett St, Brookport, died at 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 14, 1980. He was dead on arrival at Lourdes Hospital in Padu-cah, Ky.

Funeral services are pending at Jackson Funeral Home in Metropolis. Green Pinkston Green Pinkston, 95, of the American Beauty Nursing Home in West Frankfort, formerly of Route 1, West Frankfort, died at 6:55 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, 1980, at Union Hospital in West Frankfort. Mr.

Pinkston was formerly employed as a clerk at the U.S. Marine Hospital in St. Louis. He attended the Glad Tidings Apostolic Church in West Frankfort. His parents were William and Mary Smothers Pinkson.

His wife, the former Florence Kluepper, died Feb. 14, 1977. Survivors include several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Parker-Reedy Funeral Home in West Frankfort.

Burial will be in East Fork Cemetery east of West Frankfort. Friends may call after 6 p.m. today at the funeral home. rfc Bessie Kerley Haden Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Gilead Cumberland Presbyterian Church at Simpson for Bessie Kerley Haden, 77, of Route 1, Simpson.

Mrs. Haden, a retired teacher and principal at the Golconda Grade School, died Friday, Sept 12, 1980. Burial was in the Gilead Cemetery. The Aly Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Michael Bearden Funeral arrangements are incomplete at Johnson Funeral Home in Herrin for Michael Bearden, 33, of Chicago, formerly of Herrin, who died Sunday, Sept 14, 1980, at his home in Chicago.

Everett Baker Funeral services for Everett Baker, 68, of Route 1, Brownfield, will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Aly Funeral Home in Golconda. Burial will be in Cole Springs Cemetery in Temple Hill. Friends may call after 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Baker died Saturday night Sept 13, 1980, at Massac Memorial Hospital in Metropolis. He was a farmer, a veteran of World War II and a member of the Metropolis Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion posts. He was born May 24, 1912, in Pope County, to Allen and Minnie Rolfe Baker. Survivors include one sister, Edith Jennings, and one brother, Henry both of rural Brownfield.

Benton man arrested inside store Frank D. Hopkins, 20, of Route 2, Benton, was arrested by Benton police early today inside the True Value Store, 309 E. Main St. Chief Mark Drake said charges of burglary and criminal damage to property were filed against Hopkins, who is in custody at the Franklin County jail. A radio dispatcher received a report that a break-in was occurring at the store.

Police found a broken window when they arrived. After assistance arrived, police entered the building and found Hopkins hiding under a shelf, Drake said. In another incident, about $15 in coins was taken from a laundry room in an apartment building at 413 W. Webster St. after midnight Sunday.

Drake said damage to the coin boxes was about $21. And Drake said police have recovered five stolen bicycles from juveniles and returned them to their owners. Two men held in area thefts i Warren D. Spann, 24, of rural Du Quoin, and Robert Atchison, 24, of rural Ashmore, were arrested by Perry County officials Sunday and charged with two counts and one count respectively of felony theft. Spann was charged with stealing items on Aug.

24 from the rural Ta-maroa grage of Godfrey Kunkel. Both men were charged with a Sunday morning theft that included a riding lawnmower. Marion District Unit 2 will participate in a Right-to-Learn program and will offer training for volunteers. Volunteers will provide help on a one-to-one basis for a child who is having trouble in reading, math, language and spelling. Usually the help is no more complicated than hearing the child read aloud or drilling him or her on spelling words or math facts.

The help is given during school time at the school where the child attends. There will be an orientation meeting in room 511 of the junior high school at 1 p.m. Wednesday. Room 511 is on the west side of the lobby Workshop on The John A. Logan College Adult Re-entry Program will offer a workshop, Building Self-Esteem, on Wednesday from 9 a.m.

to 3 p.m., and also on Tuesday and Thursday evening, from 7 to 9 p.m. The workshop will be held in the Batteau Room on the campus of John A. Logan College. The workshop is for any woman who has felt unlovely and unloveable.
