The Southern Illinois University-Car-bondale women's gymnastics team captured a double dual meet Saturday by defeating Illinois State 119.75-108.61, and Southeast Missouri State 119.75-103.33.

In the vaulting competition, SIU-C's Ellen Barrett captured first place while Illinois State's Cyll Collins and Amy Ashley tied for second place. The Salukis swept the bars competition as Maureen Hennessey captured first place and Barrett and Cindy Moran took second and third, respectively. The winning score was 8.25. Hennessey took first place in the beam competition, followed by teammates Valerie Pairton and Patty Tveit. The winning score was 8.17.

SIU-C also took the floor exercise with a winning score of 8.15. Pairton captured first place, Hennessey came in second and teammate Cindy Moran took third. In the all-around competition, Hennessey was first place, Moran second, Pairton third and Tveit fourth. The Salukis now are 5-0 and will take on the University of Minnesota Friday in Carbondale.
