Carbondale police said the Clark Service station at 801 E. Walnut St. was robbed at about 2:30 a.m. today.

Attendant David Crim told police that a man wearing a nylon stocking mask and armed with a pistol, walked into the station and demanded money. Crim was bound and locked in a back room after he gave the robber a small, undetermined amount of cash. Police said they believe the robber fled on foot. Items worth over $1,000 taken at SIU Two electric typewriters and a clock radio, items valued at more than $1,000 were stolen over the weekend from the personnel office at Southern Illinois University-Carbondale. SIU Security Police said a window at the office at 805 S.

Elizabeth St. was broken. Two IBM Selectric typewriters were taken, along with a typewriter srar.d to which one of the machines was bolted. Eavh typewriter was valued at more than A General Electric AM FM clock radio, valued at $35. also was taken.

After the man took the money he left the purse and ran, police said. VV Susan Alice "Maudy" Richardson, 104, of Du Quoin, died Sunday, May 14, 1978, at the Fair Acres Nursing Home in Du Quoin. She was born Sept. 22, 1873, to Mr. and Mrs.

Axum Major Revelle. She was married to Joe Richardson. Until her marriage, she lived on a farm at Sunfield. On her 100th birthday, Mrs. Richardson had received birthday greetings from then-Gov.

Daniel Walker. Funeral arrangements are pending at the Neal Funeral Home in Du Quoin. Florence Robinson Florence Robinson, 85, a resident of the Pope County Care Home in Gol-conda, died at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, May 14, 1978, 3t the Hardin County General Hospital in Rosiciare. She was a retired schoolteacher and member of the Golconda First Baptist Church.

She was born July 1. 1892, in Pope County, to Milo and Katie Manson Lauderdale. She married Homer Robinson April 18. 1914. He died Dec.

19, 1959. Survivors include a son. Gerald of Monroe, one granddaughter: a great-grandson and a great-granddaughter. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Aly Funeral Home in Golconda.

Hecktor. 80, of Evansville, died at his home Saturday, May 13, 1973. Mr. Hecktor was a retired janitor at the Evansville public school. He was a member cf the St.

Boniface Catholic Church in Evansville. He was born May 9. 1893. in Evansville. to John A.

And Elizabeth Glasgow Hecktor. He was married to Ruth Schillingcr Nov. 27. 1930. in Chester.

Scarberry, 46, of Tilden, died Sunday, May 14, 1978, at the Sparta Community Hospital. Mrs. Scarberry was born Feb. 13, 1932, in Wood River to Charles and Dora Draper Morris. She was married July 31, 1953, in East Alton, to Charles Scarberry.

Survivors include her husband of Tilden; daughters, Louise Harrelson of Mt. Vernon and Mary Shelton of Tilden; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one sister. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Hill Funeral Home in Tilden Burial will be in the Tilden Cemetery.

Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at the funeral home. Homer Swinford Homer Swinford, 87, of Vienna, died at 6:20 p.m. Sunday, May 14, 1978, at Massac Memorial Hospital in Metropolis. He was a farmer and member of the Benton Community Church.

He was born July 29, 1890, in Pope County, to Ambrose and Fannie Bell Swinford. Mr. Swinford married Effie Hogan Dec. 19, 1928. She died in 1970.

A stepson, Clarence Hogan, and several brothers and sisters also preceded him in death. Survivors include a stepdaughter, Blanche Rambo of Vienna and a sister, Floy Mitchell of Golconda. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Whitnel Funeral Home in Vienna. Burial will be in Massac Memorial Gardens in Metropolis.

Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at the funeral home. Ester Stoltz Ester Stoltz, 86, of Route 2, Vienna, died at 11:15 p.m. Saturday, May 13, 1978, at Massac Memorial Hospital in Metropolis. She was born Dec.

2, 1891, in Johnson County to Samuel and Mary E. Smith Thacker. She married Ernest Stoltz in 1913 in Bloomfield. Survivors include her husband and several nieces and nephews. One son and three borthers preceded her in death.

X- iA? Susan Alice Richardson Mario Crespi Mario "Mike" Crespi. 52, of Colp, died at 9:45 p.m. Sunday. May 14, 197-i. in Herrin Hospital.

Mr. Crespi was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Canrul Catholic Church. Eagles Lodge 1549 and Knights of Columbus 2164, all of Herrin. He was born July 28, W2 in Clifford to John arid Rose Bianca Oepi.

He was married to Naomi Williams in Marion. Dec. 23. 144. He was employed as an electrician at the Delta Mines, east of Marion.

Survivors are his wife; his mother of Herrin; three daughters. Norma Kay Harness of Peoria, Ardith Grippa of Ali-quippa. and Darla Dee Crespi, at home; a son, Michael Keith of Colp; a sister, Kay Crespi of Herrin; and four grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Our Lady of Mt.

Carmel Catholic Church in Herrin. Burial will be in San Carlo Cemetery in Herrin. Friends may call after 4 p.m. Tuesday at Johnson's Funeral Home in Herrin, where a rosary will be said at 7:15 p.m. Tuesdav.

John Curry John Curry. 81. of Fridley. formerly of Johnston City, was killed Saturday. May 13, 1978.

in an automobile accident in Minnesota. Mr. Curry was a member of a Catholic church. He was born March 1, 1897, in Durham County, England, to Thomas and Louise McAuliff Curry. A daughter preceded him in death.

Survivors are his wife, the former Marie Leonard; a daughter. Colleen Court of Edina. a brother, Bernard of Missouri; and a granddaughter, Ariel Court. Private graveside services will be held at the Lakeview Cemetery in Johnston City. Murman and Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City, is in charge of local arrangements.

Isabeil Soulsby Isabelle Soulsby, 85, of 313 E. 4th West Frankfort, died at 2:15 a.m. today. May 15. 1978.

in Union Hospital in West Frankfort. Mrs. Soulsby was a member of the Central Methodist Church in West Frankfort. She was born Nov. 4, 1892, in Clinton, to Henry' and Lena Hall.

She was married to Edward Soulsby. He died in 1946. Survivors are a daughter, Mary Fries of West FYankfort; a son, Edward of West Frankfort; a sister, Frances Ingram of Eldorado; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Parker-Reedy Funeral Home in West Frankfort.

Burial will be in the Tower Heights Cemetery in West Frankfort. Friends may call after 6 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Richard Burgess Funeral services for Richard "Dick" Burgess, 77, of Route 1, Benton, were at 2 p.m. today in the Morton and Johnston Funeral Home in Benton.

Burial was in the Masonic and Odd Fellows Cemetery- in Benton. Mr. Burgess died Friday evening, May 12, 1978, in Franklin Hospital in Benton. He had been in ill health for three years. He was born Nov.

17, 1900, to Adison and Iva Vancel Burgess. He was a retired coal miner, last working at the Harco mine. He was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church in Benton. He was a lifetime resident of Franklin County. Survivors are his wife, the former Flossie Lampley; three daughters, Mildred Palmer of Wheaton.

Martha Tripp of Benton and Mary Corbin of West Chicago; two sons, Larry Ray of Carmi and William E. of Benlon; a sister, Fay Burgess of Benton; a brother, Raymond, also of Benton; 21 grand children and 12 great-grandchildren. Zula Hudson Zula Hudson, 83, of 604 N. Wall Carbondale, died at 11:25 p.m. Sunday, May 14, 1978.

Carbondale man sentenced to two-year prison term James Vainer, 28, of Carbondale, was to be transferred to the Menard Correctional Center at Chester today to start a two-year prison term for a theft conviction. Varner was found guilty in a non-jury trial before Circuit Judge Richard Rich-man in Jackson County Circuit Court In Murphysboro. He was accused of retail theft over $150. Judge Richman sentenced Varner to two years in prison Friday.

Varner was found guilty on a charge of theft of jewelry from McNeill's Jew 3 Marion men Three 18-year-old Marion men have been charged with the April 29 burglary of the Marion Ford-Mercury garage, in which a CB radio was taken, the Williamson County Detective Unit reported. Paul Palmer, Brian Zappa and Dennis "Rocky" Mitchell were arrested late last week by Marion police. Palmer and Zappa were charged with arson, in connection with a fire that was set in the Ford-Mercury garage on the same day it was burglarized. The sprinkler system in the garage extinguished the fire, Marion firemen said. Mitchell and Palmer also were charged with a April 17 burglary and theft at Mayer Brothers Motor Sales in Marjon.

A radio and four chrome wheel covers were reported missing..
