I Page Twenty Six SOUTHERN ILLINOISAN, SUNDAY, APRIL 19, 1981 Carbondale-Herrin-Murphysboro-Marion Deaths Carbondale man dies in tractor accident Mana Eckert Mana Eckert, 82, of Route 1, Herrin, died Friday, April 17, 1981 in the Herrin Hospital. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and past Deac-con of the church. She was a 50-year member of the Herrin Women's Club. She was a teacher at Marissa, Jerseyville and Toulon. She was born Dec.

15, 1898, in Wheatcroft to John and Florence Calvert McGough. She was married to E. C. Gene Eckert on Aug. 24, 1922 in Peoria.

Survivors include Paul of Davenport, Iowa; Shirlan of Florissant three daughters, Mrs. Robert W. (Bette) Myer of Delaware, Ohio, Virginia Possehl of St. Charles, and Marilyn Church of Palatine; one brother, Gilbert McGough of Holiday Island, two sisters, Ada Church of Kimberling City, and Ina Hamilton, Seattle, Wash. and 14 grandchildren and seven greatgrandchildren.

Services will be Monday 1:30 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Herrin. Burial will be in Marissa Cemetery in Marissa. Memorial contributions can be made to the First Presbyterian Church or the American Cancer Society. Friends may call after 7 p.m.

at the Van Natta Funeral Home. Edgar J. Walker Edgar J. Walker, 81, of Route 5, Marion, died at 4:45 p.m. Saturday, April 18, 1981 in Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Mo.

He was a retired carpenter, and a member of the Second Baptist Church and Carpenter Local 508 in Marion. Mr. Walker was born Aug. 12, 1899 in Jackson County to James and Mary Rader Walker. He was married Sept.

3, 1917 in Marion to Esta Mae Cash, who preceded him in death. He is survived by one son, Lee Roy Walker; two daughters, Mrs. Marie Fisher and Mrs. Flora Mae Fowler; and one brother, Hosea Walker, all of Marion; eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, four brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Maplewood Cemetery. Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at the Wilson Funeral Home in Marion. Earl Dillard Earl Dillard, Ava, died Saturday April 18, 1981 at the Veterans' Administration Hospital in Marion.

Funeral arrangements are pending at the Wilson Funeral Home in Ava. Other survivors include two sons, Clyde Allan and Kenneth Earl at home; a daughter, Geo Amanda, also at home; mother Mrs. Blanche Long of Crainville; brother John of Tologa, four sisters, Earlene of Crainville, Marilyn Dunning of Herrin, Paula Elma Rhoade of Alabama and Kathyrn.Fan of Tologa, and maternal grandmother Eula Bailey of De Soto. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Dutch Ridge Church in Carbondale.

Burial will be at the church cemetery. Friends may call after 6 p.m. today and from noon Monday at the Walker Funeral Home in Alto Pass until time of services. Nathan Lee Rulebish Nathan Lee Rulebish, 3, of Route 2, Scheller died 4:50 a.m. Saturday, April 18, 1981 at the St.

Louis Children's Hospital of natural causes. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Tamaroa. He was born June 24, 1977 in Du Quoin to Edward and Kathaleen Pes-tka Rulebish. Survivors include his parents, a brother, Timothy, at home; paternal grandparents Edward and Martha Rulebish of Tamaroa; paternal great-grandparent Pattie Rulebish of Tamaroa; maternal grandparents, Leo and Rosemarie Petska of Scheller; and maternal great-grandparents Leo and Kettie Skorcz of Scheller. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m.

Tuesday at the Immaculate Conception Church in Tamaroa. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Monday at the Searby Funeral Home in Tamaroa. Lillie Vudek Lillie Vudek, 79, of Dubois, died at 12:01 a.m.

Saturday, April 18, 1981, at the Friendship Manor Nursing Home in Nashville. Mrs. Vudek, a housewife, was born Sept. 19, 1901, in Dubois to Joseph and Frances Woloszek Kenmetz. She married Sylvester Vubek in 1923 in Dubois.

She was a member of the St. Charles Catholic Church in Dubois. Survivors include two sons, Lawrence of Madison and Kenneth of Dubois; two daughters, Rita Lisk of Richview and Lillian Bemis of Granite City; two brothers, John and Leo; four sisters, Rose, Martha, Mary and Clara; and 13 grandchildren and one great grandchild. She as preceded in death by her husband, two sons and a daughter. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m.

Monday at St. Charles Catholic Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. today.

Raymond F. Richardson, 83, Chester, died Friday April 17, 1981 at Memorial Hospital of Chester. He was a retired Baptist minister. He served as minister over a 20-year period in Southern Baptist churches in Perryville, O'Fallon, Cutler, Vienna and Cairo. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Chester.

He was born Aug. 4, 1897 in Billet to Henry an Alice Martin Richardson. He was married July 21, 1928 to-Marve Kintner, who survives. He is also survived by two daughters, Rita Johnson of Chester and Betty Fernandez of Mount Vernon, nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church in Chester. Burial will be in the Paradise Cemetery in Steeleville. Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Gulley was a retired miner. He was born Sept. 20, 1909 in Illinois. Survivors include one daughter, Juanita Green of Texas; three broth-es, Therman Gulley of Valier, Claude Gulley of Valier, and Oren Gulley of Vincennes; and two grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by two brothers and his parents, David and Leon Eckels Gulley.

Funeral services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at the Gilbert Funeral Home. Frinds may call today after 6 p.m. Burial will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery at Sesser. Clarence F.

Welge Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today at the St. John Lutheran Church in Chester for Clarence F. Welge, 74, of Chester. He died Thursday April 16, 1981 at St.

Ann's Healthcare Center in Chester after an illness of two years. Burial will be in the Paradise Cemetery in Steeleville. Memorials may be made to the St. John Lutheran Church in Chester. Mr.

Welge, who was a retired farmer, was born Oct. 27, 1906 in Chester to Henry C. and Minnie Teg-tmeyer Welge. He was married Oct. 3, 1931 in Sparta to Ruby Mahan, who survives.

He was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church in Chester. He also is survived by a son, Earl C. Welge of Chester; two daughters, Florence Ruroede of Sparta and Marie Hornbostel of Campbell Hill; two sisters, Mildred Schwenke of Chester and Helen Zimmer of Steeleville; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. A brother and two sisters preceded him in death.

A Carbondale man died Friday afternoon from injuries he received while working on the De Soto Blacktop road about a half mile west of De Soto. -According to the Jackson County Sheriff's Department, Kenneth E. Gulley, 27, was operating a small tractor at noon Friday when he was pinned by the bucket arm to the tractor. Gulley was pronounced dead at the scene from massive chest injuries. Mr.

Gulley was a mechanic for Norman Fred Trucking in De Soto. He was born Sept. 9, 1953 in Mur-physboro to Tom and Blanche Bailey Gulley. He was married July 26, 1974 to Mellie Kathryn Marks, who survives. Ethel Mae Eriksen Funeral services will be at 2 p.m.

Sunday at Pettett Funeral Home in Murphysboro for Ethel Mae Eriksen, 63. of 1803 Elm Murphysboro, who died at home Friday, April 17, 1981. Burial will be in Tower Grove Cemetery in Murphysboro. Friends may call until the hour of services. Mrs.

Eriksen was a member of the First Christian Church of Murphysboro, and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and Murphysboro Senior Citizens. She was born July 13, 1917, in Murphysboro to Alonzo Miller and Myrtle Turner. She was married to Chester 0. Eriksen on Dec. 27, 1954 in Tupelo, Miss.

Survivors include husband Chester; one daughter, Patricia Gil-lmore; one son, Harry Gillmore; two grandchildren; one sister, Bertha Carter; and one brother, John Miller, all of Murphysboro. She was also preceded in death by one son, Donald Gillmore, three brothers and two sisters. Eunice Pearl Butler Eunice Pearl Butler, 73. of Chester died suddenly Thursday April 16, 1981 in Sherwood, Ark. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Chester.

She was born July 21, 1907 in Rockwood. Mrs. Butler was married Sept. 11, 1923 in Chester to Benjamin Butler, who preceded her in death. She is survived by a son, Ronald G.

Harris of Sherwood, a brother, Richard Harris of Burlington, Iowa; an aunt, Nettie Miner of Chester; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Shroeder Funeral Chapel in Chester. Burial will be in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call after 4 p.m.

Gertrude Watts Brown Gertrude Watts Brown, 88, Pin-ckneyville, died Saturday April 18, 1981 at Pinckneyville Community Hospital. She was born May 10, 1892 in Nashville to Elihu and Emma Hendricks Jones. She was married March 10, 1908 in Pinckneyville to Howard Watts. He preceded her in death June 12, 1949. She later was married to Adolph Cuhnert and Ernest Brown.

Both men preceded her in death. She is survived by two daughters, Beuiah Marlow of Tamaroa and Erla Jenkel of Pinckneyville; a sister, Nellie Phillips of Pinckneyville; 19 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and three great-greatgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, three sisters and a granddaughter. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church in Pinckneyville.

Burial will be in the Mueller Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today and until noon Monday at the Pyatt Funeral Home in Pinckneyville. Ella Keller Ella Keller, 88, of Dongola, died Saturday morning, April 18, 1981, at Union County Nursing Home in Anna.

She was born March 30, 1893, in Pulaski County to Jasper and Josephine Douglas Eddieman. Her husband, Garner Keller, preceded her in death Feb. 1, 1963. Survivors include three daughters, Helen Ralls of Streator, Margaret North of Chicago, and Ivo Corzine of Dongola; seven sons, Kent and Claude, both of Dongola, Clarence of North Lake, Don of Orlando, Von of Mobile, Alvin of Kis-simmee, and Edward of Ox-nard, a sister, Nellie Penni-nger of Anna; and 37 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at Crain Funeral Home in Dongola.

A sheriff's department spokesperson said the closing came after numerous complaints of loudness, underage drinking, gunshots and fights. A decision to close the bar was made after Sheriff Gerald Kobler met with Williamson County State's Attorney Randy Patchett and Liquor Commissioner Curt Palmer. The bar will remain closed pending a hearing that must be held within the next seven days.
