Lula Fay Wallwork CHRISTOPHER Lula Fay Wallwork, 77, of 203 Ernestine Ave. died at 10:50 p.m. Monday, Oct. 23, 1995, in Herrin Hospital. Services will be at 11 a.m.

Mrs. Wallwork was born Oct. 13, 1918, in Logan to James and Allie Luster. She married Howard Joe Wall-work. He preceded her in death Sept.

17, 1986. Other survivors include two children, Felicia Dilley of Christopher and Jim Otterson of Myrtle, one grandson, Donald Gene Furlow Jr. of Christopher, one sister, Verna Mae Bruce of California. She was preceded in death by her parents and one granddaughter. Edith M.

Snell KARNAK Edith M. Snell, 70, died at 6:35 a.m. Monday, Sept. 23, 1995, at her home. Services will be at 1:30 p.m.

Clara Noleen MARION Clara A. Noleen, 90, died at 7:22 a.m. Monday, Oct. 23, 1995, in Herrin Hospital. Services will be at 8 p.m.

Friday at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home with the Rev. Joel Danner officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Ralph Popp SOUTHERN ILLINOIS Ralph "Terry" Popp, 58, of Mashpee, died Monday, Oct. 23, 1995, in Falmouth, Mass. Services will be at 11 a.m.

Friday at Corpus Christi Parish Center in East Sandwich, Mass. Burial will be at a later date in Cape Girardeau. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home in Sandwich, Mass.

Memorials may be made to the Cape Cod Community College Educational Foundation, 2240 Iyanough West Barnstable, 02668. R. Lee Williams ANNA R. Lee Williams, 86, of Anna died at 8:09 a.m. Monday, Oct.

23, 1995, in Hillside Terrace Nursing Home in Cobden. He was born July 27, 1909, in Union County to Ralph and Mabel (Hileman) Williams. He married Jewell Miller in 1931. He was a member of the First Christian Church and had been a member of the Anna Kiwanis Club. He graduated from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale and before retirement was principal of Anna Junior High School for 38 years.

He also enjoyed farming for many years at the family homestead east of Anna. He is survived by his wife, Jewell Williams of Anna; a son and daughter-in-law, Dean and Dorothy Williams of Anna; a daughter, Carol Lee Williams of Willow Springs; three grandchildren, Tracy and Todd Williams of Anna and Scott Williams of Jackson, a great-granddaughter, Chloe Williams; and by nieces, nephews and other relatives. Funeral services for R. Lee Williams will be at 1 p.m. today in the Crain Funeral Home in Anna with Steve Shepherd and Todd Williams officiating.

Interment will be in Trinity Cemetery. Marion 'Shorty' Maxey HERRIN Marion "Shorty" Maxey, 85, died at 10:45 a.m. Monday, Oct. 23, 1995, at the Jackson County Nursing Home in Murphysboro. Mr.

Maxey was a retired security guard from Sangamo Electric and had formerly worked as a farmer and factory worker. He was a Baptist, a member of the Fin and Feather Club in Freeman Spur, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was born Aug. 7, 1910, in Chittyville, to Lemuel Richard and Vista Uel (Freeman) Maxey.

He is survived by two sisters, Dorothy Vista Shores of Canton and Mary Frances Vaughan of West Frankfort; four nephews, Richard Maxey of Herrin, Loy Maxey Jr. of St. Louis, Bob Maxey of Benton and Roy Frank Morris of Herrin; three nieces, Geraldine Gilbert of Farm-ington, Delores Cornell of Herrin and Shirley Babcock of Rose Hill, and several great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Loy, Calvin and Everett Maxey, two sisters, Opal Helen and Alma Lora Maxey, and a nephew, Earl Maxey. Services will be at 1:30 p.m.

Thursday at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home with the Rev. Rick Hilliard officiating. Burial will be in Freeman Cemetery in Freeman Spur. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Elders was retired from Eastside Lumber Co. in Herrin. He was a member of the Teamsters Union in West Frankfort and a veteran nf thf Elders NavVj hav. ing served in the Pacific Theater during World War II.

He was of the Protestant faith. Mr. Elders was born May 27, 1926, to Walter James and Bessie Wagley Elders in Herrin. He married Pauline South on Feb. 19, 1948, in Marion.

She survives. Other survivors include six children, Sherry Lynn Elders of Canton, Cynthia Kay McKee of Ottawa, William Walter Elders of Akin, Steven Duane Elders of Carterville, Micahel Sidney Elders of New York, N.Y., and Rhonda June Porter of Murphysboro; nine grandchildren, Emily Vaughn and Bryan Elders of Johnston City; Brandon Elders of Carterville, Amber Elders and William Edlers Jr. of Akin, Michelle Elders of Mobile, Teresa Edlers of New York, N.Y., Friday Porter and Alexandra Porter of Murphysboro; two great-grandchildren, Jessica Vaughn and Dustin Vaughn, both of Johnston City; two half sisters, Tempa Watkins of Marion and Mary Ellen Mattox of Carterville; and two sisters, Lora Mae McGinnis and Peggy Ellen Jeralds, both of Herrin. He was preceded in death by his parents. Services will be at 11 a.m.

Carbondale Police are investigating three recent vehicle break-ins. One occurred in the 400 block of West Elm Street between 5 p.m. Thursday and 5 p.m. Sunday. A burglar entered an unlocked vehicle and stole a cassette stereo and 16 tapes valued at $295.

The second break-in occurred around 8 p.m. Saturday in the 500 block of Rawlings Street. Prescription glasses, jumper cables and a cassette stereo valued at $480 were reported stolen. A third burglary occurred at the intersection of Hays and College streets between 10 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m.

Sunday. A jeans jacket, blanket and shoulder bag valued at $230 were stolen. Williamson County Jason Hamlin, 20, of Marion pleaded guilty Tuesday to unlawful possession of cannabis with intent to deliver. Charges stemmed from seizure of 500 grams of cocaine by the Southern Illinois Enforcement Group July 12, 1995. Hamlin was sentenced to four years in prison and fined $6,820.

PLL0GG Herrin A 27-year-old Herrin man was arrested last week under a two-year-old state law that forbids videotaping of people in tanning salons. Police Chief Tom CundifT said Tuesday that the victim complained to the management at Barb's Electric Beach Tanning Salon just before noon on Thursday that a client in a nearby tanning room was using a video camera and a mirror to tape him.

The store's management called Herrin police and signed a formal complaint against the suspect, saying that they in no way condoned his behavior and wanted to make certain that they were doing everything possible to prevent this from happening again, CundifT said. The victim also signed a- complaint. "When I first saw this case, I was wondering if we had a law that applied to the situation," CundifT said. Illinois does, he said, and the crime is called unauthorized videotaping. It is a Class A misdemeanor.

The law specifically prohibits the video tapping of people in restrooms, tanning beds or tanning Cobden Motorists who travel through Cobden on old U.S. 51 might want to find an alternate route for about four Weeks, beginning Nov. 1. The Illinois Department of Transportation has announced the temporary closing of the truss bridge carrying old U.S. 51 traffic over the Illinois Central Railroad tracks.
