She was married in 1908 to Richard Waldron. He died in 1968.

Survivors include one daughter, Aleen Richardson of Colp; two sons, Robert L. of Carterville and Richard V. of College Park, eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and five great-greatgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by three, brothers. Memorial contributions may be made to the Carterville First Christian Church.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the First Christian Church in Carterville for Kate Waldron, 92, of Carterville. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Carterville. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today at Riggin-Pillatsch Funeral Home in Carterville.

Mrs. Waldron died at 11:37 p.m. Monday, Aug. 31, 1981, in Herrin Hospital. She had owned and operated a Carterville hotel.

She was a member ot the First Christian Church and was a 50-year member of Royal Neighbors. Senices set or James E. Funeral services for James E. Na-bers, 46, of Route 1, Carbondale. will be at 11 a.m.

Thursday at Walker Memorial Cahpel in Carbondale. Burial will be in Murdale Garden of Memories. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mr.

Nabers died of natural causes Monday, Aug. 31, 1981. at home. Mr. Nabers had been director of the Southern Illinois University-Car-bondale Language Laboratories since 1966.

He was a member of the National Association of Language p.m. at the Lutheran Student Center, 700 S. University Carbondale. All persons who play chess or wish to learn are encouraged to attend. RED GERANIUM Tea Room will serve lunch from 11 a.m.-l p.m.

Man accused of stabbing Randy Galloway, 27, of Route 1, Sesser was released under $7,500 recognizance bond Monday after surrendering to authorities on charges stemming from the Sunday night stabbing of Danny Clark. Galloway is accused of stabbing Clark, 23, of Zeigler Sunday night at Eagles Park in Herrin during a picnic for employees of Old Ben No.

21 mine. Clark was released following treatment for a stab would to the abdomen at Herrin Hospital. Galloway faces two counts of aggravated battery, one for knowingly stabbing Clark and one for use of a deadly weapon in the commission of aggravated battery. Lightning zaps Channel 27 Marion's UHF television station will be operating at 5 to 10 percent of full power for at least a few days after lightning struck the station's antenna near Goreville overnight Monday. WDDD-TV, Channel 27, normally operates at 2.6 million watts and reception may be a bit snowy for some viewers until the antenna is repaired, according to station owner Dennis "Dutch'' Doelitzsch.

He said the station should be back to full power within a week. Vacant liOUSe DUfflS A vacant house south of the spillway near Crab Orchard Lake was destroyed late Tuesday by a fire of unknown origin. Carterville firefighters received the call at 11:50 p.m. but the house was already engulfed in flames. Carbondale Township firefighters assisted.

Burial will be in the St. Paul Cemetery. She was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Nashville and the church's Woman's Guild; she also had been a Sunday School teacher at the church. She was born in Nashville Township on June 22, 1897 to Henry and Sophia Becker Prusz.

She married William Brehm on Aug. 23, 1934 in Nashville; he preceded her in death on Oct. 10, 1972. Survivors include one son, William Brehm of Ashley; three grandchildren; and one sister, Clara Sceidt of Waynesville, Mo. She was also preceded in death by three brothers.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Pyatt Funeral Home in Nashville, and on Friday until 11:30 a.m., and thereafter at the church until the hour of the service. James W. Fornear James W. Fornear, 75, of today, Sept.

2, 1981, in the Jeffersonian Nursing Home in Mount Vernon. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Sesser Christian Church. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery in Sesser. Friends may call after 6 p.m.

Iva Myrtle Travelstead Iva Myrtle Travelstead, 76, of 904 E. Reeves Marion, died at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1, 1981, at her home. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at the Mitchell-Hughes Lemasters Funeral Home in Marion.

Rabid skunk found on edge of Ava A rabid skunk was found on the outer edge of Ava village limits Aug. 28, Jackson County animal control Warden Vicki Ashley said. Ronald Koch of Route 1, Ava, shot the skunk at 1 p.m. when he saw it staggering through a field near his house. Mrs.

Ashley said apparently no humans were exposed to the skunk, but several pets in Ava may have been esposed. Ava residents are advised to observe their pets. Pets should be vaccinated again: rabies. A Donald Dean Lemasters Music teacher Donald Dean Lemasters dies Donald Dean Lemasters, 58, of 1402 W. Freeman Carbondale, died at 8:40 p.m.

Tuesday, Sept. 1, 1981, in Pinckneyville Community Hospital as the result of a heart attack. Mr. Lemasters was a music instructor at Southern Illinois Univer-sity-Carbondale and had formerly taught at Shawnee High School and Carbondale High School. He graduated from Northwestern University and also attended Washington University.

He was a member of Phi Mu Alpha Music Fraternity. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Carbondale. Mr. Lemasters operated Lemasters Music until 1971. He served in the Army in World War II, was in the Army Band at Fitzsimmons Hospital.

He was born Dec. 20. 1924, in Kirk- sville, to Everett and Ruth Riggs Lemasters. He married Barbara Munson, who died May 7, 1978. He later married Hope Frances Garcia Gillenwater May 26, 1979.

in Carbondale. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Jenny of Murphysboro and Amy Sue of Vandalia; one son, Michael, of Carbondle: one brother. Gene of Springfield, four stepchildren, Randall K. Gillenwater, Craig Dean Gillenwater. Denice Hope Wegner and Melinda Marie Gillenwater; and two step-grandchidlren.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at the First Christian Church in Carbondale. Burial will be in Murdale Garden of Memories. Friends may call after 4 p.m. Thursday at Huffman Funeral Home in Carbondale.

William Andrew Alford William Andrew Alford. 79. of Vienna, died at 3:07 a.m. today Sept. 2, 1981, in Massac Memorial Hospital in Metropolis.

Mr. Alford was a retired carpenter. He was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church in Vienna and a a past member of several local carpenter unions. He was born Aug. 28, 1902, in Johnson County, to Henry Harmon and Lois Ridenhower Alford.

He married Frances Skelton Oct. 10, 1927, in Vienna. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Billy Lee and Howard Ray, both of Vienna; seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; four brothers, Harry and Oscar, both of Kan-' kakee, Joe of El Paso and Neil of Hopedale; and three sisters, Daisey Davis of Bloomington, Carrie Davis of Golconda and Mary Throgmorton of Vienna. Two brothers, Henry and Bob, preceded him in death. Funral services will.be at 1:30 p.m.

1, 1981, in Barnes Hospital in St. Louis She had been employed at the Litchfield High School as a secretary since 1972 and was a member of the Mount Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield. She had attended grade school in De Soto before moving to Litchfield. She was born in Murphysboro on Sept. 7, 1950 to Frank A.

and Gladys Davis Neal. She married Russell L. Vaught in Litchfield on June 28, 1968. Survivors include one daughter, Kimberly Sue Vaught of Frank and Gladys Neal of Litchfield; and two brothers, William E. Neal of Reston, and Gary W.

Neal of Melbourne, Fla. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Mount Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield, with a graveside service at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Pleasant Grove Memorial Cemetery in Murphysboro. Friends may call at the Meins-chein Funeral Home in Litchfield from 3-5 p.m.

31. 1936. in Illinois to Guy and Ruth Wells Rea. Survivors include his wife, Barbara Andrea; of Benton; three daughters. Valarie Ann Rea of Kansas City.

He was born in Favetteviile Township on Feb. 1, 1916 to Phillip and Elizabeth Weilmuenster Reuss. He married Dorthy Dee Brandis in Union, on June 12, 1938; she preceded him in death on Jan. 18, 1976. Survivors include one daughter, JoDee House of Raleigh, N.C.; one grandson; and four brothers, Walter Reuss of Sycamore, Omer Reuss of Algonquin, Lawrence Reuss of Mason Citv, and Lester Reuss of Belleville.

Francis Charles R. Francis, 91, of Orient, died at 7:05 a.m. today, Sept. 2, 1981, in Union Hospital in West Frankfort. Mr.

Francis was a retired coal miner. He formerly worked for the Chicago, Williamson and Franklin Coal Co. He was a member of the Townmount Baptist Church. He was born Jan. 9, 1890, in Sun-field, to Joseph and Ella Terry Francis.

His wife, Grace Bell, died in May 1972. Survivors include two daughters, Murillian Allen of Albuquerque, N.M., and Pauline Jenkel of Plainfield, six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Martha Chapman and Mary Miller, both of Tamaroa. He was also preceded in death by one son. Funeral services will be a til a.m. Saturday at the Townmount Baptist Church.

Burial will be in Denning Cemetery in West Frankfort. Friends may call after 6 p.m. Friday at the Stone Funeral Home in West Frankfort. Shawn Michael Eaton Shawn Michael Eaton, 4, of Palm Dale, died Monday, Aug. 24, 1981, in the Antelope Valley Hospital in Lancaster, as the result of an automobile accident.

He was born on May 26, 1977, in Valencia, to Geraldine Stone Eaton. Survivors include his mother of Palm Dale; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Stone of Palm Dale; and an aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs.

Michael Stone of Phoenix, Ariz. Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Caledonia Cemetery in Sparta. The McDaniel Funeral Home in Sparta was in charge of arrangements. I Robert Eugene Rea, 44, of 1478 Glenpeak Drive, St.

Louis, formerly of Benton, died at 12:20 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 30, 1981, in St. John's Mercy Hospital in St. Louis Mr.

Rea had been ill for the past six months. He was a veteran of the Korean War and a member of the Hamilton Christian Church in Creve Coeur, Mo. He was a professor at St. Louis University, and a member of Phi Delta Kappa. He was also a member of the National Council of Teachers of Math; St.

Louis Math Club; and the Missouri and Illinois Councils of Teachers of Math, and was involved in activities such as curriculum development. He was also president of the University of Missouri St. Louis Millard Reuss, Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Pyatt Funeral Home in Nashville, for Millard Reuss, 65, of 117 E. Belleville St.

in Nashville, who died Monday, Aug. 31, 1981, in St. Mary's Hospital in Centralia. Burial will be in the Masonic Cemetery in Nashville. He was co-owner and operator of the Nashville Monument Company until 1953, and was then shop foreman for the Nashville, Trucking Lines until he retired in 1979.

He was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christin Nashville. He was a member of the Ainad Temple of East St. Louis, was a member and past master of the Washington Masonic Lodge 55 in Nashville, was a member and past high priest of the Nashville Chapter 89 Royal Arch Masons, a member of the Nashville Chapter 805, Order of the Eastern Star, and the Patton Eva M. Bundren Eva M.

Bundren, 90, of Creal Springs, died at 8:25 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1, 1931, in Doctors Hospital in Harrisburg. She was born in Illinois to Edward and Hannah Tate Wreiss. Survivors are two Wayne Parker of Harrisburg and James B.

Stringer of Creal Springs; a daughter, Juanita Sweat of Creal Springs; a brother, Ralph Weiss of Missouri; a sister, Leona Cast of Marion; eight grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; several neices, nephews, stepchildren and step-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Cosby Funeral Home in Creal Springs. Burial will be in Simmons Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m.

today at the funeral home. Mrs. McDaniel died Tuesday morning, Sept. 1, 1981, in Union County Hospital in Anna. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Anna, Anna Star Chapter 522 of the Order of the Eastern Star and the American Legion Auxiliary.

She was born Nov. 4, 1903, in Jonesboro, to Charles P. and Mary Ax-ley Smith. She married Louis C. McDaniel June 18, 1925.

He died March 28, 1975. Survivors include two sons, Louis Charles of Pinckneyville and Robert E' of Bloomington, six grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; a sister, Thelma DeGar-more of Anna; one aunt, Nola Floody Cof Rockford; and several cousins. University Mall in conjunction with the Murphysboro Apple Festival exhibit will conduct an Apple Pie Baking Contest Saturday. Inquests set into two deaths A Williamson County Coroner's Jury will hear testimony concerning the recent deaths of Cletus Ray Pickles, 23, of Herrin and Benedict W. Lamour, 39, of Royalton during inquests Tuesday.

The inquest for Lamour, pronounced dead at his residence on Aug. 21 following an apparent electrical accident, will be held at 7 p.m. in courtroom two of the Williamson County Courthouse. The Pickles inquest will follow at approximately 7:45 p.m. Pickles was pronounced dead following a motorcycle accident Aug.

Three arrested in tire slashings Tires were slashed on five vehicles parked at the Birdcage Tavern north of De Soto Tuesday nignt ana two tires were slashed on a truck parked at J.B.'s Tavern, also north of De Soto. Three men James Ruby, 50, of Willisville, James Dean Smith, 39, of Kewanee and David M. Smith, 30, of Galva have been arrested in connection with the tire slashings. They were being held in jail in Murphysboro! this morning.
