Page Twenty SOUTHERN ILLINOISAN, TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 30, 1982 Carbondale-Herrin-Murphysboro-Marion Deaths Four convicted, 1 more held in Perry bean rustling case Floyd Carlos Childers Floyd Carlos Childers, 75, of 323 Lucier Murphysboro, died Monday, Nov. 29, 1932, in St. Joseph Memorial Hospital in Murphysboro. Mr. Childers was a retired steel worker for General Steel Co.

in Granite City. He was born Oct. 7, 1907, in Po-iiona, to Edward and Sarah Ellis Childers. Charles Gill Charles Gill, 81, of 122 School Zeigler, died Sunday, Nov. 28, 1932, at Union Hospital in West Frankfort.

Mr. Gill was a retired miner and last worked at Zeigler No. 3. He was a member of United Mine Workers and the Zeigler Eagles. He was born Aug.

2, 1901, in Illinois, to Arby and Janie McFarland Gill. Survivors include his wife, the former Anna Mitchell; two daughters, Virginia Ensinger of Zeigler and La-Verne Plumlee of Christopher; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and two greatgreat-grand-children; one brother, Elmo Gill of Indianapolis, one sister, Lady Pinkhara of West Frankfort; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wrednesday at Gilbert Funeral Home in Christopher. Burial will be in Denning Cemetery in West Frankfort.

Friends may call after 6 p.m. today at the funeral home. Anna Summers Anna Summers, 85, of Kalamazoo, formerly of Franklin County, died at 7 a.m. Monday, Nov. 29, 1982, at the Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo.

Mrs. Summers was born Oct. 29, 1897, in Akin, to Wesley and Millie Summers Hatchett. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elza R. Summers, in 1967.

Survivors include one daughter, Charlene Hart of Kalamazoo; three grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and two great-greatgrandchildren; and one brother, Del-lis Hatchett of Akin. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Hobbs-Johnson Funeral Home in Benton. Burial will be in Knob Prairie Cemetery at Akin. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m.

Wednesday at the funeral home. the thefts of soybeans. Elmer, 22, pleaded guilty to the Nov. 21 theft of 52 bushels from Whittington. He was sentenced to a year's probation and seven days in jail.

Elliot, 20, and Edward, 19, were sentenced to 18 months probation and 21 days in jail for the Nov. 5 and fuly 6 thefts of beans from Whitting-lon and from Ronald Grabowski of pu Bois. Eugene, 21, was sentenced to 18 months probation and 12 days in jail for the Nov. 5 theft. Sims said investigation showed the brothers, who live together, needed money to pay their bills.

World holiday' reservations due Reservation deadline for the Southern Illinois University-Carbondale Women's Club "Holidays Around the World" is Wednesday. Mrs. Kyle died at 10:15 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 28, 1982, in Memorial Hospital in Carbondale. She was a home-maker and a member of St.

Paul's Baptist Church of Du Quoin, where she sang in the choir. She was born May 16, 1895, in Mississippi and married Walter R. Kyle on Dec. 27, 1935, in Indiana. He died on Nov.

14, 1973. Survivors include two sisters, Mary and Clara Brown, both of Du Quoin; nieces, nephews and a cousin. She was preceded in death by one brother in addition to her husband. Geneva Crain Funeral services for Geneva L. Crain, 58, of Belleville, formerly of Sparta, will be held at 2 p.m.

Wednesday at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Sparta. Burial will be in Union cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 7:30 a.m. until the hour of service on Wednesday.

Mrs. Crain died Sunday, Nov. 28, 1982, in St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Belleville. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church.

She was born April 7, 1924, in Blair to Luther and Ruth Hathaway Jones and married Robert J. Crain on Sept. 3, 1947, in Chester. Survivors include her husband; three sisters, Mabel Barber of Sparta, Marian Becker of Dupo and Jenny Yankey of Mascoutah. She was preceded in death by parents, three brothers and three sisters.

Harold D. Neal Funeral services for Harold D. Neal, 81, of 13 S. Leonard Du Quoin, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Neal Memorial Chapel in Du Quoin.

Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Friends may call after 6 p.m. today at the chapel. I Mr. Neal died at 3 a.m.

Sunday, Nov. 28, 1982, at home. he was a retired barber and motel operator, and a member of the Ten Mile Baptist Church in Mcleansboro. He was born Feb. 7, 1901, in Hamilton County, to Steve Clinton and Flora Gunter Neal.

He married Lucille Martin in 1924 in Chicago. Survivors include his wife and one sister, Mabel Dailey of Du Quoin. He was preceded in death by three brothers. Lutisha Williams Lutisha Williams, 90, of Vienna died Monday, Nov. 29, 1982, in Hill-view Health Care Center, Vienna.

Funeral arrangements are pending at the Whitnel Funeral Home in Vienna. Four men have been convicted and a fifth suspect arrested in the Perry County soybean thefts. The sheriff's department announced today Michael E. Davison, 22, of Tamaroa was released on $400 cash bond after an 11:40 a.m. Monday arrest in Pinckneyville.

Davison faces two counts of theft over $300, one of them for the Nov. 5 theft of beans from the Arthur Jerry Whit-tington farm near Tamaroa. Four brothers Elmer, Elliot, Edward and Eugene Burgess were arrested and convicted last week, according to Perry County State's Attorney Jerry Sims. Sims said the brothers pleaded guilty to Police Carbondale A Carbondale 17-year-old was charged with possession of burglary tools early today. Police said he was stopped while shining a flashlight into parked autos in a lot between the 600 blocks of east Main and Walnut streets at 1:34 a.m.

Willie Lome York, 17, 508 E. Fisher remained in the Jackson County jail this morning awaiting an intiail court appearance. Stereo equipment valued at $490 was reported taken in an apartment burglary Monday night, Robert D. Gassel, of the 500 block of S. Hays discovered the items missing at about 2 a.m.

today. A pizza delivery truck was reported damaged during an apparent 4.heft attempt at Schneider Hall, Southern Illinois University-Carbon-dale police reported. A delivery person reported door glass on the truck broken by two men outside the residence hall at 12:15 a.m. Benton Eighty dollars was taken sometime between 2:30 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m.

Monday from the dental office of Dr. Robin LaBuwi in Franklin Heights Plaza in Benton. Doors were damaged at two businesses in apparent burglary attempts. Damage to a door at Giles Appliances, 215 E. Main Benton, was estimated at $60, while damage on a door at Reed Heating, 315 S.

Main was estimated at $20. The incidents occurred between 11:45 l.m. Monday and about 12:25 a.m. Tuesday. Carterville school chili supper is tonight A chili supper sponsored by the Carterville Education Association will begin at 5:30 p.m.

today at the Carterville Grade School cafeteria. Proceeds will go to the CEA scholarship fund. The supper precedes the school homecoming, which will start at 6:30 p.m. Bess Albon Bess Albon, 89, of 200 S. Poplar, De Soto, died at 10:10 p.m.

Monday, Nov. 29, 1932, in the Jackson County Hursing Home in Murphysboro. Mrs. Albon was a graduate of Southern Illinois Normal University in Carbondale and bad taught in area rural schools. She was a member of the ML Calvary Lutheran Church in De Soto.

She was born May 26, 1893, in Car-oondale to James W. and Mary Robinson Gil- more. She mar- juried Arthur Albon Sr. on Sept. 20, 1914, in De Soto.

He was president of the Albon State Bank in De Soto until his death March 31, 1974. Survivors in- include one son, Ar- Bess Albon thur Albon Jr. of De Soto; one daughter, Sara Jane Crews of Tay-lorville; three granddaughters; one grandson; four great-grandsons and one greit-granddaughter. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m.

Thursday at the Huffman Funeral Home in Carbondale. Burial will be in the De Soto cemetery. Friends may call after 4 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Henry Egbert Reese Henry Egbert Reese, 72, of Route 2, Sparta, died Nov.

28, 19S2, at his home. Mr. Reese was a retired coal miner. He was born Oct. 25, 1910, in Pnckneyville, to Frederick and Jea-nette Egbert Reese.

He married Louise Logan, Aug. 26, 1951, in West Frankfort. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Charles and Michael Reese; two step daughters, Cynthia Howie and Sharon Wagoner; one sister, Genevieve Rednour; three grandchildren and six step grandchildren; all of Sparta. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the King Funeral Home in Sparta.

Burial will be in the Caledonia Cemetery. Friends may call after 6 p.m. today and until time of sen-ices Wednesday at the funeral home. Edward R.W. Robinson Graveside services for Edward Racine William Robinson, infant son of Larry Thompson and Vicki Sue Robinson of 916 N.

Marion Carbondale, were held at 11 a.m. today in Oakland Cemetery in Carbondale. He was born Sept. 12, 1932, in Carbondale, and died Friday, Nov. 26, 1982, in Cardinal Glennon Hospital in St.

Louis, Mo. Survivors include his parents; maternal grandmother, Pearl Foster of Carbondale; maternal grandfather, Charles Foster of Carbondale; paternal grandmother, Annabelle Thompson of Carbondale; two aunts, and three uncles. The Funeral Home in Car-bondale was in charge of arrangements. Sophia Carman Funeral services for Sophia Carman, 82, of Ullin will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Crain Funeral Home in Ullin.

Burial will be in the Ullin cemetery. Friends may call after 6 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mrs. Carman died Monday, Nov.

29, 1982, in Union County Hospital in Anna. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Ullin. She was born March 6, 1900, near Ullin to William and Dora Brown Staudacher and she married Charles Clarence Carman in 1916. He died on Dec. 25, 1949.

Survivors include one daughter and one son-in-law, Margarette and Howard Wrighth of Ullin; three sisters, Grace Kearney of Flint, Edna Hight of Anna and Marie Keller of Dongola; one granddaughter, Carman Thompson of Karnak; one great-grandson, Brandon Howard Thompson of Karnack; and neices and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Vivian Carman, on Aug. 19, 1982. Floyd Evans Floyd Evans, 79, of Anna, died Tuesday, Nov. 30, 19S2, at this home.

He was a member of the First Christian Church of Anna. "Mr. Evans was born April 16, 1903, in Poseyville, to Sylvester and Stella Grigsby Evans. He married Elsie Younkin on April 15, 1924. iSurvivors include his wife; four daughters, Bernita Fierichs of Dan-forth, Geneva Sechrest of Urbana, and Helen Saddoris and Eileen Robins, both of Marion; three sons, Don of Marion, Lynn of Anna and Glenn of Makanda; one sister, Mamie Chapman of Anna; three brothers, Beryl of Carbondale, Earl of Chicago and Elwood of Jonesboro; two grandchildren and 14 greatgrandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Crain Funeral Home in Anna. Burial will be in the McGinnis cemetery. Friends may call after 6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

He married Pauline Dameron Aug. 23, 1934, in Murphysboro. Survivors include his wife; eight daughters, Patricia Modglin of Greenfield, Judith Ann Ritchie of Elizabethtown, Sarah Ruth Greer of Hoquiam, Rose Marie Hill, Phyllis Stanton, Bernadette Sherman and Karen Sue Berkey, all of Murphysboro, and Ethel Mae Clutts of West Frankfort; two sons, William Henry and Alvin Lee Childers, both of Murphysboro; 24 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Charles of Cobden; and one sister, Helen Trammel of Leavenworth, Kan. He was preceded in death by one son, three brothers and one sister. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m.

Mann died Sunday, Nov. 28, 1982, in St. John's Hospital in Springfield, following an illness of two years. She was a 20-year resident of Du Quoin, a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, and a retired employee of Marshall Browning Hospital in Du Quoin. She was the daughter of Ferdinand and Mayme Thiel Waller.

She married Nelson Mann May 12, 1962, in Springfield. Survivors include her husband and four sisters, Leona Westerfield of Jo-liet, Bernadine Burke of Springfield, Hilda Santinia of Pawnee and Pauline Thompson of Zion. She was preceded in death by one brother. Josephine Sisky Josephine Sisky, 77, of 704 S. Led-ford, Harrisburg, died 9:55 a.m.

Monday, Nov. 29, 1982, in the Harrisburg Medical Center. She was born March 7, 1905, in Carneghi, to Joseph and Mary Shultz Cooley. She was married to Walter Sisky who died in 1955. She was a member of St.

Mary's Catholic Church in Harrisburg. She is survived by three sons, Ray, Frank and John, all of Harrisburg; one daughter, Mary Bowers of Harrisburg; one brother, Joe Cooley of Harrisburg; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons and two brothers. Funeral services will be 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at St.

Milligan Warren E. Milligan, 58, of Orlando, died Friday, Nov. 26, 1932, in Orlando. He was born in Illinois to Coy and Daisy Cox Milligan. He was retired from the Army.

He is survived by two brothers, Bobby Milligan and Sylvester Milligan, both of Harrisburg; and two sisters, Betty McKendrie and Lorene Hooten, both of South Fort, N.C. today at the funeral home. Ona Reed Hitchcock Ona Reed Hitchcock, 99, of Grand Blanc, formerly of Karnak, died Monday morning, Nov. 29, 1982, in Flint Osteopathic Hospital. Mrs. Hitchcock was a member of the United Methodist Church in Grand Blanc and the United Methodist Women's Organization.

She was born Feb. 23, 1883, to John and Margaret Sinks Reed. She married Guy Hitchcock, who died in 1950. She was also preceded in death by one son, Richard, July 29, 1982. Survivors include three sons, Clyde and wife Dorothy of Fort Charlotte, Reed and wife Ruth of New Port Richey, and Milford and wife Jerry of Cincinnati, Ohio; three daughters, Letha Koonce of Murphysboro, Margaret Burger of Seattle, and Madge Wilson of Grand Blanc; two brothers, Hubert Reed of Marine and Chester Reed of Collins ville; 18 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
