Great-grandmother is Lillian Crain of Herrin. Jessie Dempsey CARRIER MILLS Jessie Dempsey, 101, died at 6:15 a.m. Monday, Jan. 15, 1990, in Carrier Mills Nursing Home. Services will be at 2 p.m.

Wednesday in Absher-Nicholson Funeral Home in Carrier Mills, with burial in Salem Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mrs. Dempsey was a member of the First Baptist Church.

She was born June 4, 1888, in Saline County to William and Eliza (Rude) Hibbs. She married Logan Dempsey in 1904. He died in 1974. Survivors include one daughter, Elsie King of Carrier Mills; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren. Six children, two brothers, six sisters and three grandchildren also preceded her in death.

Hazel Sesock WEST FRANKFORT Hazel Sesock, 80, of Anna Gray Highrise, died Saturday, Jan. 13, 1990, in Union Hospital. Services will be at 11 a.m. today in Parker-Reedy Funeral Home, with burial in Denning Cemetery. Mrs.

Sesock was a homemaker. She was born April 15, 1909, in Glennallen, to Richard and Sadie Belle (Newell) Ossig. She married Pete Sesock in 1927. He died in 1964. Survivors include three sons, Paul Sesock of West Frankfort, Charles Sesock of Danville and John Sesock of Duluth, one daughter, Beulah Rosenstock of Phoenix, one brother, Paul Ossig of Mount Vernon; two grandchildren; and one greatgrandchild.

One son, one daughter, seven brothers and two sisters also preceded her in death. Cardell Robinson CARBONDALE Cardell Preston Robinson, 7, son of Willie and Ger-aldine (Higgins) Robinson of 400 E. Larch died at 3:02 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 14, 1990, in Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Bethel AME Chruch in Carbondale, with burial in Tower Grove Cemetery in Murphysboro. Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the church.

Memorials may be made to the Sickle Cell Anemia Fund. Cardell was a first-grader at Par-rish Elementary School in Carbon-dale and a junior steward of Bethel AME Chruch in Murphysboro. He was born June 3, 1982, in dar-bondale. Survivors include his parents; two brothers, DeMar and Marian Robinson, both at home; and grandmothers, Pearl Foster and Viola Clemons, both of Murphysboro. Firefighters were called to a vacant home owned by Rufus Diamond of Eddyville, at 3:04 a.m. The fire is believed to have started on the west wall in the middle of the home. There were no injuries. The cause of the fire is under investigation. arships of up to $500 each for the academic year 1990-91.

The goal of the association is to provide assistance to worthy Illinois students in furthering their education and training. The scholarshps will be awarded statewide to students pursuing vocational training or attending institutions of higher learning in the'state. The only requirements are that applicants be permanent Illinois residents, the scholarships be used at institutions in the state, and the students must plan to be enrolled as full-time, undergraduate students. All interested students should consult the administrator of the school they are attending or their local sheriff's office for more information and applications. Applicants should submit their completed application forms to the sheriff of their home county before March 1.

Award recipients will be announced by April 15. Eugenia Rawson MURPHYSBORO Eugenia Esther Rawson, 91, of Route 5 died at 8:45 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 14, 1990, in Jackson County Nursing Home. Services will be at 11 a.m.

Wednesday in Crawshaw Funeral Home, with burial in Tower Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today and until 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Murphysboro Christian Academy.

Mrs. Rawson was retired from Brown Shoe Co. She was a member of the First Christian Chruch, Brown Shoe Factory Retirement Club, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and Senior Citizens. She was born Jan. 8, 1899, in Ora-ville to Joseph and Elenora (Par-rent) Payne.

She married Jarred Rawson in 1916. He died in 1965. Survivors include one grand-daughter-in-law, Pat Rawson of Murphysboro; four great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. One son and one grandchild also preceded her in death. Marie Dovich ZEIGLER Marie Evelyn Dovich, 66, of 703 S.

Pine St. died at 1:45 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 14, 1990, in Herrin Hospital. Services will be at 1 p.m.

Thursday in Vantrease Funeral Home in Zeigler, with burial in Zeigler City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family. Mrs.

Dovich had owned and operated Caesar's Palace and Evelyn's Cafe. She was a Catholic. She was born Aug. 7, 1923, in Chap-pell, to Charles and Georgia (Stansberry) Glaubitz. She married Michael Dovich in 1943.

He survives. Other survivors include one son, Charles Dovich of Sauk Village; two brothers, Leo Glaubitz of Hamilton, and Robert Glaubitz of Oxnard, three sisters, Margaret Smith of Las Vegas, Betty McAdams of Victorville, and Joy Howerter of Cottonwood, six grandchildren; and one greatgrandchild. One son, one brother, one sister and one grandchild preceded her in death. Sylbert Price WEST FRANKFORT Sylbert "Bert" Price, 71, of 313 S. Jackson St.

died at 6:20 a.m. Monday, Jan. 15, 1990, in the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Marion. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Parker-Reedy Funeral Home.

Burial with military rites will be in Masonic and Odd Fellows Cemetery in Benton. Visitation will be after 6 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mr. Price was a retired food salesman for Higdon Food Co.

in Padu-cah. He was a member of the American Legion in Orient and Calvary Baptist Church, and was an Army veteran of World War II. He was born Feb. 16, 1918, in Eldorado to John and Sarah (Gaylord) Price. He married Faye Clark in 1941.

She survives. Other survivors include one son, Michael Price of West Frankfort; one brother, the Rev. K.M. Price of Benton; three sisters, Thelma Shelton of Chillicothe, Bernice Chan of Peoria and Kathleen Bryan of Fort Pierce, three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Two brothers and one sister preceded him in death.

George Claxton ANNA George H. "Peck" Claxton, 59, died at 6:52 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 14, 1990, in Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau. Services will be at 10:30 a.m.

Wednesday in Anna City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna. Memorials may be made to the Heart Fund. Mr.

Claxton was a lineman for Central Illinois Public Service Co. He was a member of the Kiwanis, Moose Lodge 1346, the International Brotherhood of Electrical Engineers local in West Frankfort and Carroll P. Foster Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3455, and was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was born May 19, 1930, in Alto Pass to Henry and Florence (Cro-well) Claxton. He married Peggy Vaughn in 1952.

She survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Julie Bulli of Springfield and Marcy Hale of Anna; one sister, Ann Smoot of Murphysboro; and three grandchildren. James Humphreys HERRIN James Humphreys, 61, of Route 2 died at 9 a.m. Monday, Jan. 15, 1990, in Herrin Hospital.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home, with burial in Freeman Cemetery in Freeman Spur. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Emma Holt HERRIN Emma Holt, 94, of 1216 N.

13th St. died at 1:45 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 14, 1990, in Herrin Hospital. Services will be at 8 p.m.

She was a Protestant. She was born Aug. 26, 1895, in Illinois to Jacob and Margaret (Collins) Reiger. She married Harry Carter. He preceded her in death.

She married Tony Holt in 1922. He died in 1974. Survivors include nephews and nieces. Five brothers and four sisters also preceded her in death. Sula Braden CHRISTOPHER Sula Braden, 89, died at 8 p.m.

Sunday, Jan. 14, 1990, in Union Hospital in West Frankfort. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Crawford Cemetery in Logan. There will be no visitation.

Memorials may be made to the donor's favorite charity. Mrs. Braden was a member of White Oak Baptist Church. She was born Jan. 22, 1900, in Logan to Joel and Margaret (Kerley) Crawford.

She married Amos Braden. He died in 1953. Survivors include one son, Robert Braden of Lamirada, three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Two sons also preceded her in death. Gilbert Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Loren Barlow JONESBORO Loren Barlow 54, of Route 2 died Monday, Jan. 15, 1990, in Unjon County Hospital in Anna. Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Norris and Son Funeral Home, with burial in Casper Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m.

17, 1935, in Cob-den to Loren and Virgie (Mangrum) Barlow. He married Betty Smith in 1969. She survives. Other survivors include three sons, George Davis of Vienna, Jeffery Barlow of Jonesboro and Leroy Lazenby of Rochelle; five daughters, Brenda Fisher of Marble Hill, Becky Seals of Cape Girardeau, Lori Barlow of Jonesboro, Mary Lazenby of Anna and Carolyn Galbraith of Joliet; his mother, Virgie Jackson of Anna; one brother, Charles Barlow of Anna; two sisters, Betty Massey of Anna and Beverly Galbraith of Joliet; and five grandchildren. His father preceded him in death.

Opal White CARTERVILLE Opal White, 69, of 418 N. Division St. died at 10:03 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 14, 1990, in St.

Louis University Hospital. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Huffman-Harker Funeral Home, with burial in Oakland Cemetery, both in Carbondale. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. White had been a bookkeeper. She was a Baptist. She was born June 4, 1920, in Bo wling Green, to Mr. and Mrs.

Samuel Hutchison. She married John White in 1966." He survives. Other survivors include one grandchild; and three great-grandchildren. Wanda Bangs MARION Wanda Mae Bangs, 52, died at 6:13 a.m. Sunday, Jan.

14, 1990, at home. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home, with burial in Hillcrest Cemetery in Carterville. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Bangs was a homemaker. She was a member of the Church of Christ. She was born May 22, 1937, in Herrin to Lawrence and Sarah (Ham-montree) Followell. She married Eldon Bangs in 1958.

He survives. Other survivors include two sons, Luther and Lawrence Bangs, both of Marion; three daughters, Linda Mays of Herrin, Patricia Chamness of Zeigler and Sandra Crain of Marion; one brother, Leroy Followell of Marion; and eight grandchildren. died at 10:11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 15, 1990, in Herrin Hospital. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, with burial in San Carlo Cemetery.

Butterio was retired from Brewster Motor He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church. He was born June 24, 1915, in Herrin to Joe and Virginia (Ronsi) Butterio. He married Louise Chiodini in 1941. She survives. Other survivors include one daughter, Chris Butterio of Herrin; one brother, Frank Butterio of Her-, rin; and four sisters, Josephine Greco of Corinth Hall, and Mary Inmah, Louise Conrad and Delia Patrick, all of Herrin.

Lillie Bradford MOUNT VERNON Lillie Mae Bradford, 83, died at 9:27 a.m. Monday, Jan. 15, 1990, in Good Samaritan Regional Health Center. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Hughey Funeral Home, with burial in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mrs. Bradford was a retired ironer for Mount Vernon Shoe Factory. She was a member of Marlow General Baptist Church.

She was born April 20, 1906, in Hamilton County to William and Nancy (Parks) Atteberry. She married Glen Galiher in 1925. She married Earl Bradford in 1956. He died in 1985. Survivors include two sons, Leslie and William Galiher, both of Mount Vernon; two daughters, Rosalee Fletcher of Mount Vernon and Norma Ferguson of Decatur; two sisters, Norma Raymond of Mattoon and Pansy Fenton of Mount Vernon; 10 grandchildren; and eight greatgrandchildren.

Two brothers, two sisters and two grandchildren also preceded her in death. Evelyn Readman JOHNSTON CITY Evelyn Read-man, 67, of 702 E. Ninth St. died at 9:36 a.m. Sunday, Jan.

14, 1990, in St. Joseph Health Center in St. Charles, Mo. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Murman and Wilson Funeral Home, with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery in Marion.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mrs. Readman was born March 19, 1922, in StiriU to Sim and Grace (Swift) Porter. She married Francis Readman.

He died in 1959. Survivors include one son, Richard Gursky of Marion; one daughter, Cynthia Barbaro of Lake Villa; two brothers, Sim Porter of Hartford, and Kenneth Porter of Marion; five sisters, Imogene Kee, Bonnie Yelencich, Geniece Beers and Doris Malone, all of Johnston City, and Irene Middaugh of Herrin; and four, grandchildren.
