She married Frank Kramer Oct. 22, 1955, in Haubstadt, and he survives in Mount Vernon. Other survivors include two sons, Keith (Brenda) Kramer of Sesser, and Phil (Wanda) Kramer of Mount Vernon; four grandchildren, Dennis and Alex Kramer of Sesser, and Brooke and Matt Kramer of Mt. Vernon; one sister, Louise (John) Hillenbrand of Haubstadt, and several nieces and nephews. Her parents, and brother, Eugene Whitman preceded her in death.

JoAnn T. Vieceli JOHNSTON CITY JoAnn "Jody" Vieceli, 66, of Johnston City, passed away at 4:15 p.m. Monday, June 6, 2005, in St. Luke's Hospital in Chesterfield, Mo. Vienna.

She was a member of Ballou Baptist Church of Vienna. She was born Aug. 18, 1921, in Ottawa, to Carl and Pauline (Steinke) Smith. Harriet was united in holy matrimony with William E. 'Bill Cunningham in 1946 in Chicago.

He preceded her in death in October 1996. Surviving are a daughter, Lois Guy of Herrin; two granddaughters and their husbands, Valerie and Tom White of Metropolis and Christy and Bob Hamilton of Herrin; and one great-grandson, Jason Moss of Herrin. She was preceded in death by her husband, son-in-law, David L. Guy; parents and two brothers, Elvin and Glen Smith. Services were at 1:30 p.m.

Tuesday, June 7, 2005, in Vienna Fraternal Cemetery, the Rev. Willard Murrie officiated. The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois. Services were entrusted to Meredith-Waddell Funeral Home in Herrin. James 'Jim' Merton Snyder BENTON James "Jim" Merton Snyder, 66, of Benton, born Feb.

22, 1939, left the world to be reunited with the Lord at 5:15 p.m. Monday, June 6, 2005, in Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount Vernon. I Tuesday, June 7, 2005, in St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Belleville. A memorial service will be at 1 p.m.

Mr. Bailey was of Methodist faith. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was born Aug. 27, 1963, in Herrin to Floyd and Carolyn S.

(Wagnor) Bailey. Survivors include his father, Floyd Bailey of Carterville; a brother, Mike Bailey and his wife Therese of Cambria; sister, Joyce Bailey of Herrin; three nephews and two nieces. He was preceded in death by his mother, Carolyn Bailey. Marion Strate MARION Marion Strate, 87, formerly of Kingfisher, passed away at 12:35 a.m. Sunday, June 5, 2005, in Parkway Manor in Marion.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, June 10, 2005, in Kingfisher Cemetery, with the Rev. Charles Smith of the Federated Church of Kingfisher officiating. Visitation will be from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. Friday in Sanders Funeral Home in Kingfisher.

She was born March 11, 1939, in Johnston City, to Frank L. and Ida M. (Ottolini) Vieceli. She is survived by two brothers, Ruby Evelyn Manier MARION Ruby E. Manier, 67, of Marion, passed away peacefully at 6 p.m.

Tuesday, June 7, 2005, at the home of her brother, George Moake, with whom she and her husband, John, were living with. She was born in Marion, Jan. 28, 1938, the daughter of Edd and Bessie (Wilson) Moake. Ruby was unit6d in marriage to John B. Manier in Marion, at the home of John's mother, May 12, 1956, and together they have shared more than 49 years of marriage.

She never worked outside the home, because she always found herself busy seeing to the needs of her husband, her extended family and keeping up the home. One of her outside interest, after she had her work done, was going out on Saturday to yard sales of the area. Her family though was the most important area of her life. Since she never had children of her own, she loved to help with and see to the needs of the children of the family. It was said by one of her family members that Ruby "Has done something with or for all of her younger family members during her lifetime." Caring seemed to come natural to her.

In her passing she leaves behind her husband, John of Marion; three sisters, Ailene Mezo of Energy, Sarah Craig of Johnston City and Sue Emery of Marion; two brothers and one sister-in-law, George Moake and Bill and Carol Moake all of Marion; a host of nieces, nephews, other extended family members and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Lula Harpstrite; and two brothers, Robert and Bennie Moake. Arrangements for Ruby E. Manier have been entrusted to Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home, 900 N. Court Marion.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Cana Cemetery, located north of Goreville, with the Rev. Paul Lee presiding. Comments of memory will also be presented by some of Ruby's family, Kelly Rae Moake and Sharon Blades. Those wishing to attend the graveside service should gather at the cemetery prior to 2 p.m.

For those who prefer, memorial contributions may be made to "Hospice of Southern Illinois" and mailed in care of Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home, P.O. Box 370, Marion, IL 62959. Memorial envelopes will be available at the cemetery service and the funeral home. Helen Pierson HERRIN Helen T. Pierson, 88, formerly a longtime resident of Herrin, died at 2 p.m.

Tuesday, May 31, 2005, at the home of her son John Pierson. She was born on Sept. 27, 1916, in Bloomfield to her parents James and Edna Trover. Helen was married to the late Robert Pierson. She is survived by her sister Hilda Ure of Long Beach, two sons and daughters-in-law, James and Sandie Pierson of Palatine, and John and Barbara Pierson of Germantown, Md; four grandchildren, Laura Pierson, Use Mately, Meredith Holahan, and Robert Pierson; and three greatgrandchildren.

Helen worked for many years at Herrin City Library. She was a member of First Christian Church of Herrin. A memorial service in Churchill Senior Apartments in Germantown, is planned. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister Mary Templeton. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society.

Bernard Brosman MARION Bernard Brosman, 63, died at 8:15 a.m. Wednesday, June 8, 2005, in Fountains Nursing Home. Arrangements are incomplete at Blue Funeral Home. Jim was a very spiritual man of Christian faith. He lived his life for his God and his family.

Jim worked many years in the mines, Vieceli burial in De Soto Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. today at Pettett Funeral Home and from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shriner's Children's Hospital in St.

Louis or to Department of Development-Emphysema Research at the Mayo Foundation (Mayo Clinic). Gene was born Jan. 18, 1932, in Mount Vernon, to James Clarke and Lena (Reynolds) Clarke. He served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953.

Mr. Clarke was a graduate of Mount Vernon Township High School and Southern Illinois University with both a bachelor's and master's degree in accounting and he received his Certified Public Accountant License through from the University of Illinois. He was an accountant entrepreneur and was a member of the Illinois CPA Society. He was also the owner and operator of the 4 Way Quik Stop in De Soto. Gene had been the former mayor of De Soto and former member of the De Soto Village Board, and he had also served on the De Soto Grade School Board.

Mr. Clarke was a member of Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in De Soto. He was a member of De Soto Masonic Lodge 287, the Jackson County Shrine Club, and the Ainad Shrine Temple. He also was a member of the American Legion Post 127, the VFW Post 7190, the De Soto Lion's Club, the Jackson County Farm Bureau, the Eagles Lodge, the Murphysboro Elks Lodge 572, and SIU Alumni Association. He married Joann Kirkpatrick May 3, 1953, in Piggott, and she survives.

Other survivors include three children and their spouses, David and Sue Clarke of Murphysboro, Jim and Martha Clarke of Murphysboro, and Sue and Mike Jennings of De Soto; nine grandchildren, Matt Clarke and his fiancee Amy, Melissa Petersen and her husband, Will Petersen, Micah Clarke, Jerusha Clarke, Danielle Clarke, Madelynn Clarke, Abigail Clarke, Bryan Jennings and Brittany Jennings; two greatgrandchildren, Maci Petersen and Emma Petersen; his mother of Mount Vernon; three brothers and one sister, Don Clarke of Nason, Shirley Wantland and her husband, Burdette Wantland of Carrolton, Larry Clarke and his wife, Barbara Clarke and Steve Clarke and his wife, Bonnie Clarke all of Mount Vernon; one brother-in-law and his wife, Tom and Flo Kirkpatrick of Johnston City; two sisters-in-law, Iva Jean White of Sesser and Frances Kirkpatrick of Mount Vernon; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father. Viva Mae Akin BENTON Viva Mae Akin, 89, of Lake Wales, died Tuesday, June 7, 2005, at home. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Masonic and Oddfellows Cemetery in Benton.

There will be no visitation. Those attending the service are requested to meet at the cemetery. Snyder Patty Cook Charles Vieceli and wife Suanne of Carlinville, and Eugene Vieceli and wife, Jeanie of Johnston City; two sisters, Tilda Jordan of Herrin and Judy Davis and husband Chuck of Johnston City; an uncle, Louis Vieceli of Carbondale; an aunt, Dora Rimbert of Johnston City; nieces and nephews, Kevin Vieceli, Andrea Long, Gina Vieceli, Paula Vieceli, Jennifer Vieceli, Leslee Mason, Jeffrey Jordan, Ryan Davis, and Erin Davis; and several grand nieces and grand JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents; brother-in-law, Dave Jordan; and friend, Cathy Bruce of Chicago. JoAnn was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church.

She graduated as a registered nurse from Michael Reece Hospital in 1959. JoAnn's nursing career was mostly in psychiatrics and geriatrics. She worked in Chicago area hospitals including Chicago Reed Mental Health in administrative, semi-administrative teaching, and consulting. Later she was assistant director and director of a geriatric nursing facility. Her love of nursing led her to become a compassionate caregiver.

She will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday June 10, 2005, in St. Paul's Catholic Church in Johnston City, with Monsignor Ken Schaefer officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Johnston City.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Murman and Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. conducted by Sr. Catherine Wellinghoff. Memorials may be made to St.

Paul's Parish Center Building Fund or to the American Cancer Society. Envelopes will be available at the church or the funeral home. roofing and siding and was employed for a short time at VF Factory Outlet. With all the blessings, his great pride was being a wonderful dad and grandpa. His children and their children were his biggest joys and greatest pride.

Jim is survived by his children, James C. Snyder of Benton, Ramona Neilson and husband, Chris of Moscow, Idaho, John Snyder and wife, Nora of Benton, Therese Snyder of Benton, Carole Cassuto and husband, Adam of Benton, Christine and husband Terry Gower of West Frankfort, James Beachel of Benton, Glen Beachel, and wife Delia of Elko, a very special daughter, Lora Beachel of Benton, Rose Noakes and husband, Barry of Carterville; an adopted son, David Chrostoski and wife Georgia of Benton; a special sister, Joanne Johnson of Idaho; and a sister-in-law, Monalee Snyder of Benton. Also surviving are many grandchildren, several and many nieces and nephews, all in which were his world. Jim was preceded in death and reunited with his parents, Claude and Irene Snyder; his beloved wife, Betty Snyder; a Anthony "Tony" Snyder; a daughter, Julie Snyder; a brother, Philo "Phil" Snyder; a sister, Elaine Walker; and a brother-in-law, Don Johnson. No longer is he bound to earth in human form, forced to live in pain and misery.

His soul is now free. He will be sadly missed by many but we all truly believe we will all soon be together again. Services will be at 1 p.m. today in Morton and Johnston Funeral Home in Benton, with Bishop Greg Schroeder officiating. Burial will be in Masonic and Oddfellows Cemetery in Benton.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. FAIRFIELD Patty A. Cook, 59, died at 12:30 p.m.
