The board agreed to spend whatever is necessary for protection equipment and up to $60 per month for the monitors.

SESSER CITY COUNCIL Sesser City Council Wednesday: Agreed to become a municipal member of the Greater Egypt Regional Planning and Development Commission. Yearly cost ot the city will be 12.5 cents per citizen, about $265. Authorized use of a truck and bulldozer to remove refuse from the Lyn-Gal garment factory, which burned Dec. 23. Voted to retain James Watklns, probationary member of the police force as permanent night patrolman.

BENTON HIGH SCHOOL BOARD The Benton High School Board Thursday: Referred to committee four bids to demolish the main classroom building. Added six new members to the Citizens' Consulting Committee. Stickler, 20, Boomer Hall, Carbondale, was arrested today and charged with driving while intoxicated after he was observed by police allegedly driving on the wrong side of East Grand avenue. Police said they administered a Breathalyzer test to Stickler and that two test results shewed .14 and .12 respectively. Illinois law presumes a person Is Intoxicated if the percentage is .10 or higher.

21, 1896, he was the son of William H. and Lena M. Erbe Crawford. He was a veteran of World War I and a member of American Legion Post 177, Zeigler. Surviving are his wife, the former Nina Mooneyham; a sister, Freda Bacon of Christopher; and two brothers, Henry of Hammond, and Fredrick of Benton.

Harry Lavell HARRY LAVELL Harry "Grouchy" Lavell, 80, of 432 Murphy Murphysboro, died Thursday in the Veteran3 Administration Hospital, Marion, after an illness of 3 months. He was bartender and former owner of Lavell's. Tavern, now Beasley's Tavern, at 902 Walnut Murphysboro. He was born Aug. 10, 1892, in Brighton, the son of Patrick and Elizabeth Sharp Lavell.

On May 30, 1918; in Pinckneyville, he married Ruth Savitz. She preceded him in death Jan. 7, 1963. Mr. Lavell was a World War I veteran.

He was a member of the American Legion, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, both in Murphysboro. He was also a member of the St. Andrew's Catholic Church, Murphysboro. Survivors include daughters, Alberta R. Hartleb of Murphysboro, and Betty Ruth Tellor of Metamora; a son, Harry cf Murphysboro; a half sister, Mary Underhill of Murphysboro; nine grandchildren and five great-grand-children.

Two half brothers preceded him in death. Funeral services will be al II a.m. Saturday in St. Andrew's Catholic Church, Murphysboro, with the Rev. Fred H.

Renschen officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Gove Memorial Cemetery, Murphysboro. Friends may call after 5 p.m. tcday at the funeral home. The Rosary will be said al 7:30 p.m.

today at the funeral home. MARY RENAUD Mary Renaud, 90, of Christopher, died in Detroit, at 7 p.m. Thursday after a lengthy illness. She was the daughter of Henry and Mary DeHailecourt. Mrs.

Renaud was preceded in death by her husband, Mose Renaud, May 8, 1959, and a daughter Mary Coin, She is survived by a daughter, Albertine Bedar of Houston, two sisters, Maria Cauvin of Detroit, and Fideline Loislet of Johnston City; two brothers, Louie DeHailecourt of Royal Oak, and De sire DeHailecourt of Lcuisville, seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday in the Russell Funeral Home, Christopher. Burial will be in the Harrison Cemetery, east of Christopher. Friends may call after 5 p.m Saturday at the funeral home.

Holt died at 6 a.m. Thurs day in Herrin Hospital. Born Sept. 11, 1905, in Bloom-in gton, he was the son of John and Zoria Holt. He was a member of the Ma sonic Lodge.

Surviving are his wife, the former Ma ttie Mooney; a daughter, Mrs. Kenneth Conra- dy of Godfrey; a son, Gary of Gaithersburg, a sister, Eva Fowler of Bloomington: a brother, Tom of Wingate, Ind and six grandchildren. lnursdav Marion Me morial Hospital after a short illness. He was a retired carpenter from the maintenance depart ment of the Veterans Adminis tration Hospital, Marion. Mr. Farmer was a veteran of World War I and a member of the World War I Barracks No. 376, Marion.

He also was a member of the first Baptist Church and the American Legion post No. 147 both in Marion. Mr. Farmer was born Sept. 15, 1893, in Johnson County, the son of Mr.

and Mrs. Richard Farmer. He married ay Lrnsnam on Sept. 15, 1913, in Golconda. She died Oct.

13, 1969. He also was preceded in death by a daughter, Mildred Irene Farmer, in 1932. and a sister and brother. He is survived by a half sister, Nola Noel of Marion; a niece, La vena Duncan of Marion; and a nephew, Carl Simmons of Chesterton, Ind. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m.
