ANNA Pamela Mary (Arnold) Menees, 44, went to her Lord on Sunday, Aug. 10, 2008, after losing her battle with M.S., which she fought courageously since 1992. Her love of music had her performing in the Jonesboro Grade School and the Anna- Jonesboro High School bands. She graduated from A-J in 1981. She came into this world Oct.

29, 1963, in Rolla, Mo. On May 12, 1984, she was joined in marriage to Jerry J. Menees at St. Catholic Church in Anna; to this union, two sons were born, Jerry Richard and Brandon Scott. They made their home in Millstadt.

In addition to her husband and sons, she is survived by a granddaughter, Issabella Cheyenne and her mother, Brandi; her parents, Richard and Cecilia Arnold of Jonesboro; her brothers, William Lloyd Arnold of Oro Valley, and Douglas Paul Arnold of Paducah; sisters-in-law and brothers-in- law, Shirley McCormick and husband, Jerry, of Belleville, Ivan Menees and wife, Mary, of Millstadt, Barbara Barker and husband, Chet, of Columbia, Lloyd Menees, Jr. of Gillespie, Mary Proctor and husband, Richard, of Black Shear, and Margie Teutrine and husband, Randy, of Belleville; very special godparents, Mary Lou and Ralph Heisserer of Oran, and many cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her father and mother-in- law, Lloyd E. and Wilhelmina (Theis) Menees and sister-in- law, Sally Etling. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, 2008, in Creason Funeral Home, with the Rev. Marvin Volk officiating. Burial will be in Mount Evergreen Cemetery in Millstadt.

Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2008, in Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church in Marion, with Dr. Bob Dickerson and Rev.

Martha Bradley officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Marion. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Building Fund or Free Again Inc.

He was born June 16, 1948, in Eldorado, the son of Jesse A. and Freda E. (Endicott) Douglas. Steve attended Marion schools and was a graduate of Marion High School in 1966. After graduation, he enlisted into the United States Army Reserves serving for six years.

He received his Bachelors of Science in education from Southern Illinois University Carbondale. Steve began his teaching career substitute teaching for the Marion schools in 1972. He was hired by the school system in 1973, first teaching at Logan School and Washington School, both in Marion. Later, he began teaching sixth grade at Longfellow School and later was assigned teaching fifth grade, also at Longfellow School. He remained as a teacher at Longfellow until he retired in 2003, after nearly 32 years of teaching.

Steve was united in marriage to Sharon S. Angel on April 20, 1974, in Zion United Church of Christ of Marion. Together, they had enjoyed more than 34 years of marriage. He was a lifetime member of First Baptist Church of Marion. His other interests included being a member of National Rifle Association and Italian Greyhound Rescue Organization.

He was a former member of National Education Association, Illinois Education Association and Marion Education Association. Steve was a person with many interests. He loved any kind of animal, often helping and nursing injured animals back to health to be released into the wild. He loved being in the outdoors and especially going camping and on many of his breaks and vacations, he and Sharon would travel to camp going to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, Minnesota and much of New England. Once they decided to try camping in the Arctic of Canada and they traveled on the Polar Bear Express Train to Moosonee, Ontario, Canada, where they boarded a freighter canoe to be taken out to an island to camp.

He also was an enthusiast of traditional archery, a collector of cars, guns and juke boxes. Both he and Sharon have spent many hours attending car, gun and juke box shows. They both also enjoyed the many Saturdays they traveled together throughout the area searching for that special antique item. The memories that have been created by the many adventures will be cherished by those left behind. He is survived by his wife, Sharon S.

Douglas of Marion; brother and sister-in-law, Warren and Julie Douglas of Marion; father-in-law, Harold V. Angel of Marion; two sisters-in-law, Mary Marks and her husband, Loyde, of Carterville and Linda Main and her husband, John, of Tonkawa, two brothers-in-law, Ron Angel and his wife, Lori, of Maumelle, and Richard Angel and his wife, Dana, of South Elgin; and a host of nieces, nephews, other extended family and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and mother-in- law, Betty Angel. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug.

Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2008, in Fountains Nursing Home in Marion. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. today in Blue Funeral Home in Marion, with the Revs. John Howat and David Hancock officiating.

Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Marion, with military rites accorded by VFW Post 1301, American Legion Post 147 and the National Guard. Survivors include sister and brother-in-law, Pat and Bill Wiese of Marion; nephews, Greg Wilson and Cathy Newbold and Randy and Trina Wiese; great- nephews, Garrett Wilson and Austin Wiese; great-nieces, Madison Wilson and Alexis Wiese; aunt, Imogene Edwards; uncle, Clyde Durfee; special companion, Brenda Stricklin of Herrin; and extended family, Chris and Linda Bickers and their daughters, Laura and Julie. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and infant son. Mr. Stricklin was a member of Cana Baptist Church, southeast of Marion. He worked as General Manager and later co-owner of Edwards Mobile Home Sales, was a cattle farmer and as a security guard at General Dynamics.

He was a member of the Williamson County Shrine Club, Masonic Lodge 89 AF and AM, Dorcas Shrine 61, Williamson County Farm Bureau and Williamson County Fair Past Board Member. Marzella Lynn MARION Marzella Lynn, 83, of Tulsa, formerly of Marion, passed away peacefully and was received into the arms of Jesus on Monday, July 28, 2008.

Marzella, a homemaker, was born in Eddyville on March 9, 1925. She is survived by her husband, Lavern W. Lynn, 82, of Tulsa; her children, Margaret Harmon and husband, Jim, of Tulsa and Terry Lynn and wife, Frankie, of Marion; her grandchildren, Jamie Secrest and husband, Jim, of Tulsa, Chris Harmon and wife, Shannon, of Tulsa, Kera Robinette and husband, Aaron, and Trevor Lynn, all of Marion; her great- granddaughters, Corbyn Secrest and Ella and Avery Harmon, all of Tulsa; and other beloved family members. Boozer, 16, of Honolulu, formerly of South Korea, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2008, in Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu. Tasha, the daughter of Jimmie G. and Mi Kyung (Ko) Boozer was born Sept. 18, 1991, in Yongsan Garrison Army Hospital in Seoul, South Korea.

She was of Baptist faith and last attended Camp Red Cloud Chapel in Uijongbu, South Korea, where she was a member of the church choir. Tasha was very loving and caring and always very quiet and considerate of others. She was an excellent student with an interest in science and always enjoyed her class outings and trips. She loved helping others and was often asked by her teachers to help fellow classmates. Tasha loved to read and often wrote short stories.

She was a member of the Honor Class and MUN (Model of the United Nations) and was interested in joining the Red Cross. Tasha is survived by her parents, Jimmie G. and Mi Kyung Boozer stationed with the United States Army in Honolulu; sister, Chenoa Lee Boozer of Honolulu; maternal grandparents, Sang Pil Ko and Tong Sim Kim of Inchon, Korea; maternal great grandmother, Dal Oak Lee of Inchon, Korea; parental grandparents, Jimmie Gale and Kay Boozer of Marion; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, other extended family and many friends. Her parental grandmother, Peggy Lee Boozer, preceded her in death. Services will be 11 a.m.

Saturday at Styninger Funeral Home in Nashville. Stricklin Boozer DU QUOIN Charlie Laverne Sullivan, 92, passed away at 7:50 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 14, 2008, in Frankfort Care Center in West Frankfort. Charlie had worked as a laborer for the Waltonville 3 Coal Mine.

He was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of the Vergennes United Methodist Church and a member of the UMWA. Charlie loved talking to people and he never met a stranger. In years past, he loved to hunt and fish.

He was born May 21, 1916, in Vergennes, the son of Charles L. and Caroline L. (Heiman) Sullivan. He is survived by one daughter, Carolyn Sharp and husband, Richard, of West Frankfort; one son, Charles Leon Sullivan and wife of Wyoming; grandchildren, Kendra Murphy of Benton; granddaughter in Wyoming and Don Athen Wilburn and wife, Shelley, of West Frankfort; one stepson, Tom Sharp and wife, Diana, of Batavia; sister-in-law, Hilda Cook of Du Quoin; four nieces, Georgena Cockrell of Tennessee, Shirley Bigham of Benton, Suzanne Baker of Benton and Patsy Haney of Aurora; one nephew, David Sullivan of Freeburg; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Jesse, Arthur and Oren; one sister, Mary; loving companion, Bertha Wisley; and one grandson-in-law, Dan Murphy.

Services will be at 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, 2008, in Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin, with the Rev. Ted Clark officiating. Burial will be in the Creekpaum Cemetery in Vergennes.

Charlie Laverne Sullivan Sullivan Mary Lawrence Rice HARRISBURG Mary Lawrence Rice, 90, formerly of Metropolis, passed away Thursday, Aug.

14, 2008, in Harrisburg Medical Center. She was born June 26, 1918, in Pope County, to the late John H. and Emma (Taylor) Lawrence. On June 28, 1940, she married Alfred Rice, and he preceded her in death March 18, 2003. Mary had worked at Good Luck Glove Factory in Metropolis.

She was the last charter member of the Immanuel Baptist Church in Metropolis. She was one of the Organizers of the Zion Cemetery Trust Fund She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Ed and Bea Rice of Gary, daughter and son-in-law, Pat and Marvin Teckenbrock of Harrisburg; grandchildren, Todd Rice and wife, Dee, of Atlantic Highlands, N.J., Tracie Welch and husband, Earl, of New Lenox, Ben Teckenbrock and wife, Marie, of Mount Juliet, Casey Teckenbrock and wife, Krista of Herrin and Tory Flaherty and husband, Ryan of Columbia, greatgrandchildren: Zachary and Megan Rice, Amanda, Jacob, and Rachel Welch, Hannah Teckenbrock, Dylan, Nick and Ally Teckenbrock and Kendall Flaherty.
